CEO at MBC GROUP
Sam Barnett is the Chief Executive Officer of MBC GROUP. He joined the Group in 2002 and became CEO in 2011.
MBC GROUP is the largest and leading media company in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Its portfolio of satellite TV stations reach a daily audience of 140 million people and lead the market in the Gulf, Egypt, Iraq, and North Africa.
The Group is also home to Shahid VIP – the premium, subscription-based service of Shahid, the world’s leading Arabic streaming platform. Shahid is home to highly rated original productions from the Arab world, a wide range of exclusive movies and premieres, as well as the top watched live Arab TV channels.
Both outlets broadcast thousands of hours of original content each year, including the Saudi crime thriller, “Rashash”; the documentary, “Carlos Ghosn: The Last Flight”; and sci-fi drama, “Hell’s Gate”. The Group also showcases regional versions of hit shows such as “Arabs got Talent” and “The Voice: Arabia”.
Also part of MBC GROUP is production house MBC STUDIOS, and the training institute, MBC ACADEMY.
Barnett previously worked in management consulting and spent his early career in Africa and the United Kingdom. He has a degree in History and Economics from Cambridge University, and an MBA from INSEAD Business School.
