Anti-Harassment Policy

Updated:  April 2, 2024

Policy statement:

VidCon is dedicated to providing a harassment-free event experience at its events for all, regardless of any classification protected by applicable law (e.g. gender, sexual orientation, disability, gender identity, age, race or religion). We do not tolerate any harassment of event participants. The use of lascive or discriminatory language and images is never appropriate in VidCon Mexico. Anyone who violates these rules may be sanctioned, expelled from the event at the discretion of the event organizers, or reported to local authorities.

Definition of Harassment:

Harassment under this policy includes, but is not limited to, offensive verbal comments, whether brazen or through micro assaults, related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, national origin, religion, age, marital status, military status or any other classification protected by law; deliberate intimidation; stalking; follow-up; harassment; photography or recording; sustained interruption of talks or other events; inappropriate physical contact; displaying offensive signals; displaying signs of offensive signs, gestures, T-shirts, T-shirts, symbols, etc. Attendees who are asked to end any harassment behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Definition of sexual harassment:

Sexual harassment does not refer to generally acceptable social behavior. Sexual harassment refers to verbal, physical and visual behavior of a sexual nature that is not welcome and offensive to the recipient. By way of example, sexual harassment may include behaviors such as flirtations, innuendos, or sexual propositions; verbal comments or physical actions of a sexual nature; sexually degrading words used to describe an individual; an unwanted display of sexually suggestive objects or images; sexually explicit jokes; and offensive and undesade physical contact, such as slapping, pinching, pinching, tying or constant friction against another person’s body. If cosplay is too revealing, violators may be asked to cover and/or leave the convention room. People who are asked to end any sexual harassment behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Scope of the policy:

This Anti-Harassment Policy applies to all attendees of VidCon Mexico including: participants/care, guests, staff, sponsors and exhibitors. All attendees are expected to comply with this policy at the event venue and at all social events related to the event.

Report an incident:

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or has any other concerns, please contact a VidCon Mexico staff member immediately. VidCon staff can be identified by their official badges. All complaints will be treated seriously. If you can’t find a staff member to help you, go to  Registration located in the Lobby at the Citibanamex Center.

Disciplinary Action:

All harassment reports will be addressed immediately to VidCon organizers, who may consult and hire other staff members, leaders and legal advisors, as appropriate. The safety of the event and/or the application of local law may be involved, as appropriate based on specific circumstances. In response to a harassment report, VidCon Mexico can take any action it deems appropriate. Such actions range from a verbal warning to expulsion from the event without refund. Repeat offenders may be subject to other disciplinary action, such as a ban on participating in any future event.
