Policy Statement:

VidCon is dedicated to providing a harassment-free event experience for all participants. Regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, gender identity, age, race or religion. In no way will harassment against event participants be tolerated. VidCon is not allowed to use obscene language or discriminatory images. Any participant that violates these rules will be sanctioned or expelled from the event at the discretion of the event organizers, without any refund, compensation or indemnity. 

Harassment Definition:

Harassment includes, but is not limited to offensive, unscrupulous verbal comments or through micro aggression, related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, national origin, religion, age, marital status, military status, or any other status protected by law; deliberate intimidation; persecution; harassment in the form of photography or recording; continual interruptions from conversations or other situations; inappropriate physical contact; display of offensive signs and gestures, t-shirts, symbols, etc. Participants who are asked to stop any inappropriate behavior must comply immediately, under penalty of being sanctioned or expelled from the event at the discretion of the event organizers, without any refund, compensation or indemnity. 

Sexual Harassment Definition:

Sexual harassment does not refer to occasional compliments or other generally acceptable social behavior. Sexual harassment refers to verbal, physical and visual conduct of a sexual nature that is undesirable and offensive to the recipient. For example, sexual harassment can include conduct such as: flirting, innuendo or sexual proposals; verbal comments or physical actions of a sexual nature; sexually degrading words used to describe an individual; an undesirable display of sexually suggestive objects or images; sexually explicit jokes; offensive and unwanted physical contact, such as patting, pinching, grabbing, groping, or constantly rubbing against another person’s body. Participants who violate the rules and make use of extremely revealing Cosplay, may be asked to cover themselves and/or withdraw from the convention, without any refund, compensation or indemnity. Participants who are asked to stop any inappropriate behavior must comply immediately, under penalty of being sanctioned or expelled from the event at the discretion of the event organizers, without any refund, compensation or indemnity.

Purpose of the Policy:

This VidCon Anti-Harassment Policy applies to everyone attending VidCon, including: participants, guests, staff, sponsors and exhibitors. All participants are expected to comply with the VidCon Anti-Harassment Policy during the event and at all related social events.

Reporting an incident:

If you are being harassed or you notice that another participant is being harassed or have any other issues, please contact a member of the VidCon team immediately. Vidcon staff can be identified with their official badges. All complaints will be treated seriously. If you cannot find a staff member to help you, please go to the Accreditation section located inside São Paulo Expo.

Disciplinary Measure:

All reports of harassment will be directed immediately to the VidCon organizers, who will be able to inform themselves and act in concert with other teams, leaders and legal advisors as they see fit. The event’s security team may be called upon, and even make use of local law, as deemed necessary, based on the specific circumstances. In response to a report of harassment, VidCon will take appropriate action. Measures can range from a verbal warning to expulsion from the event without refund, compensation or indemnity. A participant who commits harassment more than once will be subject to further disciplinary action, such as being banned from participating in future events.
