If you work in the creator economy, chances are you know someone who's dealt with an online privacy or security issue. Maybe someone hacked into their account and demanded money to give it back. Maybe someone used AI to impersonate them online and scam all their fans. Or maybe, an overzealous fan showed up at their house after finding their personal information online. It's never been easier to get information about someone on the internet and use it for nefarious purposes. Online crimes like identity theft, account takeover, ransomware, doxxing, and even physical threats like harassment and stalking are at all time highs, and creators are specifically at risk. Why' Creators have all the risk that comes with traditional celebrity, but (typically) none of the protections/infrastructure to prevent these types of issues. In this presentation, we will discuss all the digital (and physical) risks a creator faces living their life online and, more importantly, actionable steps creators can take to minimize these risks and keep themselves safe.
