Peter Shields

Peter Shields is the Director of Product Marketing for Creators across Meta. Peter joined Meta in 2017 and leads a team that drives inbound product development and go-to-market strategy for creator-specific products across Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and WhatsApp - ensuring that they’re built to fit the needs of creators.\n\nBefore his role at Meta, Peter was an early hire at Fullscreen, a multi-channel network that empowered creators and brands building businesses on YouTube - his first Vidcon was with Fullscreen in 2012. He started his career in the mailroom of William Morris Endeavor, where he learned how to sort mail alphabetically. \n\nAs a teenager he taught himself video editing & music production, and his brief stint in Hollywood made him a champion of creators who are bypassing gatekeepers and taking their careers into their own hands. Peter holds an MBA from Stanford University, where he met his husband Hector - they live in Brooklyn with their cat Artemis Swift (Hector is a devoted Swiftie). Peter’s own passions include an undying love for Britney Spears, Y2K nostalgia, and what remains of the monoculture.
