Steve Crombie is the Founding CEO of Totem, a digital media company pioneering new content models that turn brands, media, and creators into global leaders on social. Since 2012, he’s led strategy for some of the world’s biggest media companies, VCs, and platforms—earning Totem the nickname “the McKinsey of Online Video” from YouTube.
Totem consults to Snapchat, TikTok, and major U.S. media players. Their distribution division recently launching a TV channel with Samsung and The Try Guys. Their originals team led by Steve directed the Outdoor Boys’ final collab. In the past 12 months, Totem produced 4,000+ videos and generated over 12 billion views.
They’ve built the #1 factual entertainment brand on social (Bondi Rescue), the #1 food & drink brand on Facebook (Sticky Lollies), and the #1 First Nations creator brand in Australia (Outback Boys) amongst lots of other fun projects.
Before Totem, Steve traveled 500,000 km by motorbike and sailboat (without flying), authored a book for Macmillan, and produced documentaries for Discovery, BBCW, Lonely Planet, and Alain de Botton. He cries during every AGT golden buzzer video and thrives when told something can’t be done.
